Louis Vuitton’s dedication to both Miami and contemporary art and design is this year embodied in the Men’s Temporary Residency debut in North America, as part of a multi-faceted installation in Miami’s Design District that opened on December 4. The Temporary Residency showcases the collection within the lively installation of The Adventures of Zoooom with friends, a fantastical crew of characters conceptualized by Men’s Artistic Director Vigil Abloh, on a raucous international voyage representing the fundamental belief in inclusivity.

Characters of Zoooom with friends first appeared during the 2020 digital Paris Fashion Week and took the establishment by storm with their animated escapades throughout the city. Soon reborn in Shanghai and Tokyo as gigantic balloons, the installation has now embarked on a global adventure, celebrating House’s spirit of travel and Miami is its first stop in North America. The installation features oversized balloon figures positioned amongst their bespoke shipping containers, alongside irreverent sculptures including an enormous pair of Louis Vuitton sunglasses.

Making its first-ever appearance in North America, the SS2021 Men’s collection is founded on four methods of upcycling new looks made from recycled material, looks repeated from the Fall – Winter 2020 collections, looks freely created by the studio during the lockdown using recycled material, and new looks created from existing ideas, setting the premise for the evolution of the collection. The temporary residency offers the opportunity to pre-order the designs in advance of the launch in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide. In addition, guests can discover a full suite of menswear moments, including the Fall-Winter 2020 Men’s collection, LV2 a collaboration with Japanese designer Nigo, LVx NBA the House’s first menswear capsule collection with the National Basketball Association, and the second LV 2054 capsule collection – a performance inspired technical line – making its international debut.

Open to the public LV Men’s Temporary Residency at Miami Design District features a custom Augmented Reality experience. Quick response codes displayed on the containers activate via Snapchat, allowing guests to interact with the character’s animated incarnations while generating their own sharable content. After Miami, Zoooom with friends will travel the Spring-Summer 2021 Men’s Collection to Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Mexico City.
